Ready to chase?
Sweet! I can’t wait to show you some of the most amazing wonders the Plains have to offer.
Before you reserve a slot, I ask that you think carefully about your decision to join me, the inherent risks involved, and most especially, your tolerance for being around severe weather.
I have done the work to learn forecasting, storm behavior, and how to get you to the right spot to view the storm.
Everything I do is grounded in ensuring safety; however, chasing is not by its very nature a safe or calming sport.
I want you all there, and ready to enjoy the ride! We also will not return to our starting location until the chase has ended.
What to expect
I operate in an atmosphere of safety, professionalism, and clear communication.
Travel in my vehicle for approximately 10 hours from the beginning of our tour to the end when we stay at hotel or get you back to the starting location.
Bathroom breaks are infrequent, so don't drink too many liquids, and watch your diet.
It is imperative to have some good music on road trips. So be ready for a long drive, some storms, and some excellent tunes!
How our tours work
From you reserving your tour until we complete your custom tailored storm chasing experience I will be there with you every step of the way.
When we meet you to take you chasing I will provide a pre-chase briefing where we will cover the forecast, location we will be chasing in, safety precautions, and finally a couple quick signatures of our Reservation & Cancellation Policies, Terms & Conditions, and Liability Waiver Form.
Once we hit the road we will navigate straight to our chase target, maybe a quick stop for some snacks and some gas.
Next we will wait for storm initiation and then we will follow the storm until we determine that the chase is finished.
Depending on the tour option you choose below, or length of the chase, we will drive back to the starting location or stay at a hotel.
Customer Testimony
Recently I had my first storm chasing tour. I selected Pawnee Storm Chasers because I wanted a more personal experience and did not want to be part of a crowd in a van.
Parker, as my guide, was friendly, personable, down-to-earth and very knowledgeable on storm behavior. He had great experience in the high plains and the geographic dynamics that effect severe storms and their development.
Parker customized the tour to my needs, encouraged all questions and clearly explained the how's and why's of the target location decisions. The tour vehicle was clean, safe and comfortable with several screens to observe radar and forecast imagery and data.
During the tour, because of Parker's guidance, I saw my first haboob and supercell "mothership" structure and captured my favorite storm images of all time. I was ecstatic with how the day turned out, and I would highly recommend Parker and Pawnee Storm Chasers for your storm chasing tour needs! -Jim Hobson
